With resources from the Finep project and in partnership with the Bematech company, which sought to develop an innovative product to serve the global market for commercial printers, CERTI’s Mecha-optoelectronics Center developed a mini thermal printer that combines characteristics unprecedented in the market and has performance superior to that of the main global competitors in this segment. The equipment also has innovative modular characteristics, which allow the production of different configurations based on a single platform. The CME also developed wireless communication modules with three technologies for different product applications: Wi-Fi communication modules, ZigBee and GPRS. The Cooperative Production Center developed the printer’s production process, qualified suppliers and developed inspection procedures and specifications for the product assembly line. As a result, the MP4000 printer is currently Bematech’s main product in the printing sector, and is produced at São José dos Pinhais, in Parana State, Brazil and in Taiwan.
